Thomas J. Barr Sr., 86, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 1, 2025, at his home. He was the husband of Audrey A. (Miller) Barr, they shared 64 years of marriage.
Born July 15, 1939, in East Stroudsburg, the son of the late James and Bernetta (Fish) Barr. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
He was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Smithfield, Craig’s Meadow, East Stroudsburg and a life member of the Stroud Township Volunteer Fire Department. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Mountain Manor for over 50 years and still worked part time for the Scott family, until his health declined. He also worked with his daughter for Lori’s Lawn Care and worked at King Ribbon Mill when he was younger.
In addition to his wife Audrey, Thomas is survived by his children: Thomas J. Barr Jr and his wife Starlene, Toni Jo Heller and her husband Wayne, and Lori Parr and her husband William.
His grandchildren: Rachel Heller and her husband Jeremy Hartenfels, Ryker Barr and his wife Sadie, Riston Barr, William Parr Jr and his wife Ashley, and Stephanie McCorry and her husband William.
His great grandchildren: Kaiden Siegfried, Maisy Parr, Hattie Parr and Colton Heller.
Tom was preceded in death by his sister Genevieve Chamberlain and nephew James Chamberllain.
There will be a visitation on Saturday November 8, 2025, from 1:30pm until the time of his memorial service at 2:00pm at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Smithfield with Pastor Deb Staniszewski officiating; followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Church.
The Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
