Tom Spitzer assisting with UVa graduation setup May 21 2001.

When Mr. Spitzer retired from UVa Facilities Management in February 2003, his colleagues gathered to celebrate his career and near legendary status for is quality masonry and cheerful demeanor. Mr. Spitzer was crucial to the preservation of such cherished University landmarks as the serpentine walls, the herringbone brick walks and many buildings.

Jean, Tonya, Grady & family, Words are just not enough to convey how Tom's gentle smile and willing spirit touched the lives of so many, including us. We are saddened by your loss but confident in Heaven's gain. Saying goodbye over time couldn't have been easy, but we are sure that he always knew and felt your love. Please call if we can do anything for a week, a month or a year. Tom will leave a large hole for a long time...may the memories of good time carry you through...

Jean and family- thoughts and prayer to you during this time

Tom meant so much to Grant "Turbo" and Levi. We are so thankful for the time that we had with him. You will be missed and I hope that Turbo and Levi will make you proud! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. May God be with you all at this time.

Last summer, I briefly had the privilege of working with Mr. Spitzer. He was always polite and appreciative of all things being done for him. It was a pleasure to have known him even for such a little time. My prayers are with you.

I assisted with Mr. Spitzer's care briefly last summer. I truly enjoyed the little time I was able to get to know him. He was always pleasant and polite. Your lives were no doubt, much better for having him as your family member. My prayers are with you. e-mail
