I did not know Walter well, but have one of the orchids he gave to a mutual friend who left it to me. Thanks Walter.

A wonderful co-worker.....interesting man! Have thought of Walter in recent years and have missed seeing him. May he rest in peace.

I, too, enjoyed flying trips with Walter. He would fascinate me with his stories and we shared a love of orchids. Always admired him.

I will always remember Walter he was so nice to work with our Pan Am group is getting smaller and smaller.

Seeing him in the Briefing room I always knew that it would be a memorable flight with unusual stories and a 'live and let live' attitude. He was truly multifaceted and I think back on him with great admiration. Wishing him unusual orchids wherever he is now.

Walter was a great inspiration to many of us in the plant community. Some years ago, when I was a director with the San Francisco Succulent and Cactus Club, he hosted our board meetings in his home, where we could admire his extraordinary collection of orchids, alpines, succulents and other plants, both inside and out in his beautiful garden.
