Winfred "Sonny" Carter Jr.

Winfred "Sonny" Carter Jr., a resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the age of 83, surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Ole Miss: University of Mississippi where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lillian Millet Carter; Lillian and Sonny have enjoyed travel to many interesting places around the world. Their children include sons, Winfred "Winn" Carter III (Shanon), Steven Carter (Shannon), and Blake Scioneaux; daughter, Maria Bleakley (Dwain); daughter-in-law, Cherie Scioneaux; grandchildren, Megan Carter, Jacob Carter (Bailey), Stevie Carter, Jesse Carter, Morgan Bleakley, Taylor Bleakley, Michael Scioneaux, and Robbie Scioneaux and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Martha Berry Carter, and son, Sean "Larry Joe" Scioneaux. A visitation for Sonny will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, LA.
