Dennis Atto

Dennis died peacefully in Nanaimo, BC after a lengthy illness at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his sons, John (Cindy), Michael (Cheryl) and Bruce (Laura) along with grandchildren Jordan, Christopher, Nicolas, Alana and Spencer. Extended family members will fondly remember Dennis in Ontario, Quebec and England.

Dennis was born in Ste. Agathe, QC and raised in Lennoxville, QC. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and post-war, built a successful career as a Technical Draughtsman in Sherbrooke, QC and later, in Montreal. Following his retirement in 1985 Dennis and Joyce migrated to Nanaimo, BC to be closer to their grandchildren. They kept themselves busy with travel and gardening and for Dennis, watercolor painting and fly-fishing, and spent some time socializing in Branch 256 Legion and the RCNA. They enjoyed car travel and made frequent trips to Ontario and Quebec to visit family and friends.

The family would like to extend their very best wishes to the Nursing and Care Staff of Wexford Creek in South Nanaimo for their careful attention and compassionate care for Dennis. We will forever remember their kind words and will be ever grateful for the help they provided. No memorial service will be held at this time, and a small, family gathering later this year is planned on familiar ground in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
