May 5, 1930 - June 16, 2013
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Kiwanis Lodge on June 16, 2013. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Molly, of 61 years, his 3 children, Tim, Ken and Amy and numerous extended family members. He is predeceased by his daughter Sandra Brownlee. His 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren will forever miss Grandpa pulling gum from their ears. Bill's family was his pride and joy. In his earlier years he worked hard to create a good life for them. He was a miner, logger, fisherman, grader man, security guard, first aid attendant and entrepreneur. One highlight in his career was that he worked drilling and blasting the Ripple Rock. He loved to live from the land and share its abundance. His hobbies included crib, beekeeping, candle making, woodworking, lapidary, wine making and joke telling. These he joyfully shared with anyone who came to visit. His smiling face will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held July 6, 2013 at Kiwanis Auditorium 1233 Kiwanis Cres, Nanaimo from 2 - 5pm. Parking available on surrounding streets or at the Nanaimo Alliance Church 1609 Meredith Road.
