LOUDON, Robert Peter 1923-2013 . Born in North Vancouver, Dad was a child of the depression and later a sailor with the Royal Canadian Navy during wartime. He was a career newspaperman. He worked as a reporter with the Victoria Times and the Vancouver Sun. He also worked as an editor with the Nanaimo Free Press and the Vancouver Province. He won numerous writing awards and occasionally contributed to national magazines. He authored a book entitled "The Town That Got Lost" which described his boyhood years in Anyox British Columbia. To those family members who survive him, Dad was a loving husband to our mom Jackie, a dependable father and source of strength to his sons Peter and Gerry, a welcoming dad to his daughter in-law Chris and a proud and protective "papa" to his granddaughters Raquel (Jason) and Renee (Sean). Most recently he helped to greet his new great grandchildren Taylor, Madden, and Avery. In the eyes of those who love him, Dad stands tall. We know that he left this world a better place than he found it. With heavy and prideful hearts we prepare to lay him to rest. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cancade of the Brickyard Medical Clinic and the staff at Dover House in Nanaimo for the kindness accorded our dad during his final years. Sands ~ Nanaimo
