Edward Mohler Obituary

Edward "Roy" Mohler, a resident of Naperville since 1958, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on August 18, 2016 after a long illness. Roy was born in Streator, IL on July 3, 1926 and grew up in Ottawa, IL. He graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1944 and served in the US Army Air Force, stationed on Guam. He went on to earn an accounting degree from the Rockford School of Business and began his career in the insurance business there, where he met his 'better half' and wife of 66 years, Elinor (nee Shoudy). After retiring from CNA Insurance Company in Chicago, he became a Certified Financial Planner and operated his own tax preparation business from home for many years. He loved God, his family, growing swiss chard, his cornball humor, and the Chicago Cubs. Along with his wife, Roy is survived by sons Michael (Deb), and John (Lynn), and daughters Wendy Mansfield, Diane Ciambrone, Suzanne (Mike) Sherman, and Nanette (Joe) Powers; grandchildren Jason (Sally) Egan, Amber (Jeremy) Hutchinson, Sean and April Larez, Jessica (Brian) Amacher, Michael (Fiona) Mohler, Carl and Jonathan Mohler, Sarah and Callie Jarrett, Evan and Alicia Ciambrone and Tyler and Austin Sherman, and by ten great-grandchildren and several nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Margaret (Corrigan) Mohler, his brother Jack Mohler, and sister Anne (the late Matt) Donohue, and numerous aunts and uncles and dear friends. Visitation will be held at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, on Tuesday, August 23rd from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Closing prayers will begin at 10:30 AM and all will proceed to an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth Street, Naperville. A private inurnment will be held at a future date. Memorials may be made to SS Peter and Paul Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
