Capt. Peter F. Scardigno Obituary
Scardigno, Captain Peter F., USN (ret.) Captain Peter F. Scardigno, USN (retired), age 72, of Naperville, IL suddenly passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home. Born June 29, 1941 in Newburgh, NY to the loving late parents, Nicholas and Maryann Scardigno. Beloved husband of Diane Simmons Scardigno, to whom he was wedded for 42 years; devoted father of Nicole Scardigno of Newport, RI, and Danielle Scardigno of Naperville, IL. Peter was admired and respected by all who knew him. Peter graduated from the US Naval Academy, class of 1965 and spent the next 26 years serving his country. He served four tours of duty during Vietnam and retired from the Navy as Captain and head of repair at Puget Sound Ship Yard. He received numerous medals and commendations during his Naval career including a Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V". Following his Naval retirement, he was employed by Illinois Power at Clinton, IL facility and Exelon Nuclear Dresden facility and corporate headquarters. Peter retired from his second career in 2009. He was presently employed by Demark Inc. at Dresden Power Plant. Peter was an active member of St. Raphael Church.
