Marshall P. Smith Naples, FL
Marshall P. Smith, 90, of Naples, FL, formally of Smithtown , NY, passed away on February 1, 2013 at Avow Hospice.
He was born in Detroit, MI, attended Red ford High School where he was a member of
R.O.T.C. Called to active duty with the U.S.M.C., he served in the South Pacific and was wounded at Guadalcanal.
Marshall graduated from Rider University and taught at Keyport High School in Keyport, NJ.
He was Northeast Regional Manager of the Macmillan Publishing Companies in their Education Division.
Marshall helped form the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops of Howell Township, NJ, where he served as Scout Master of the Boy Scouts.
He was Vice President of Howell Township Board of Education and was a past President of the New Jersey Bookman's Club.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Draper Smith; three sons, Michael of Bonner's Ferry, ID, Roger of St. James, NY; Kerry of Staten Island, NY; and daughter, Karen of Tequesta,FL; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Gatward of Boca Raton, FL; and stepbrother, Richard Pierson.
A private Catholic ceremony was held at Fuller Funeral Home, followed by a military ceremony at Sarasota National Cemetery on February 12, 2013.
