Franco Venturi Bernardini Naples, FL
Franco Venturi Bernardini, 89, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2014 under the excellent care of Manor Care at Lely Palms. He was a full time resident of Naples, FL residing at Cedar Hammock Golf & Country Club since 2001. Born November 12, 1924 in Rome, Italy, Franco was the son of Rosso Bernardini and Guidetta Venturi. He was drafted into the Italian military under Mussolini's regime and served as a parachutist. After the war, he completed his studies in economics at the University of Rome.
Franco moved to New York City and started his career as a travel agent. He was very successful and became CEO of several different agencies in the U.S. and overseas. The highlight of his career was to participate in the creation of the Bach Festival on the island of Madeira, Portugal. He was an avid reader of history and biography; he loved classical music and enjoyed sports, especially weightlifting. Franco will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Francoise (Cadot) Venturi Bernardini; daughter and son-in-law, Ippolita and Pier Luigi Natale; sisters-in-law, Lina, Andree, Claudie, Sylviane, and Paule; brother-in-law, Jean-Marie; numerous nieces and nephews from Italy and France.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alberto; sister, Raffaella Galanti; and his first wife, Maria Pia.
A memorial service celebrating Franco's life will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 12:30 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East.
