Geraldine C. Faerber
Naples, FL
Geraldine C. Faerber, of Naples, FL, was born August 30, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to William J. & Grace Marjorie Cawthorne. She entered this world as the middle child out of a total of ten. All but one preceded her in death. Her little brother Fred has survived her. As a child while being loving and kind she was also fiercely protective of her siblings and as a result of that she earned the nickname "Scrappy". Keep in mind this was Pittsburgh during the Great Depression.
At the age of seventeen Geraldine left home and moved to Washington, DC and secured employment with the Internal Revenue Service for a period of 8 years. She described the computers that she worked on as filling entire floors of the building. During this period she met Nelson A. Faerber (Sr.) and they fell deeply in love. She continued her employment to allow him sufficient time post Navy service to complete Catholic University of America and obtain his Doctorate in Architecture (& Engineering).
On the Second Day of August, Nineteen Hundred & Forty Seven, a beautiful Saturday afternoon, she married Nelson A. Faerber (Sr.) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Washington, DC. This union and their commitment to one another was nothing less than a continuous whirlwind of love & inseparable companionship that exceeded six decades.
In 1954 Geraldine & Nelson moved to Naples. It would be their beautiful canvas upon which Nelson would create his concrete & steel masterpieces. It would be here where they would raise their six children, Danette Donna, Nelson, Jr. (Preceded in death), Marjorie Lynn (Dewey Workinger), Denice Marie (Robert Stark), Mies William (Catheryn) & Karl Gregory (fiancé Shannon). In addition, Geraldine & Nelson felt incredibly blessed by their wonderful & ridiculously beautiful grandchildren & great grandchildren too numerous to list. Family was Geraldine's life. Other than her passionate love of her Catholic faith and our Lord Jesus Christ, no one or anything was more important to her than family.
Geraldine simply loved life and all of those to whom she felt blessed enough to share it with. She & Nelson traveled the world numerous times. They blessed their children with the gift of travel with them, throughout America every summer to the slopes of Colorado, Montana, Austria and beyond.
Geraldine was well read & generous to a fault. She was a pilot, a marksmen and most importantly she was the guiding force upon which her husband and all of her family could rely on for strength and wisdom.
She will be tremendously missed, but we are all comforted by the fact that she is now in the arms of her husband, her son at her side, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
