Joseph Charles Lill, Jr. Greenwood, IN

Joseph "Joe" Charles Lill, Jr., 95, of Greenwood, IN, passed away August 3, 2012. He was born November 15, 1916 to the late Joseph C. and Loretta Graff Lill.

Joseph graduated from University of Notre Dame and Butler University / Indianapolis College of Pharmacy. He was a track and field athlete at Notre Dame which was the only school to defeat Ohio State and Jesse Owens during Owens' time at OSU. Mr. Lill was believed to be the oldest living Butler pharmacist.

He practiced pharmacy at several Indianapolis Pharmacies including Binkley's Drugs and Indiana University Medical School. Binkley's was the social hub of the north side. Joe's favorite customers included David Letterman, Eli Lilly, Jr., Tuffy Mitchell, Mitch Daniels, Mayor John Barton, and Marilyn Quayle.

He enjoyed playing euchre, bridge, and also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Joe was a member of the Notre Dame and Butler Alumni Associations, and was a former member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church of Indianapolis and San Marco Church in Marco Island, FL.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Saints Francis & Clare Roman Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Rd, Greenwood, IN.

Joe was born in Fort Wayne Indiana and was the oldest son in a family of 14. Six siblings still survive.

He was preceded in death in 2001 by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Meehan Lill.

Joe is survived by his two sons, Joseph Lill (Patricia) of Greenwood and James P. Lill of Hinsdale, Illinois; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
