Shirley Boyd Dold Naples, FL
Shirley Boyd Dold, 94, of Naples, FL died in her home Friday, November 16, 2012.
She was the daughter of Joseph B. and Vivian A. Gaskins and was born in Shamokin, PA, September 25, 1918. In 1930 she moved to Belvidere, NJ with her parents where she spent the remainder of her childhood, graduating from Belvidere High School in 1936.
Shirley studied at the Easton Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1939. She became a Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania in 1940 and in New Jersey in 1943. In 1970 she became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in New Jersey. Her career encompassed all phases of Nursing, from Hospital Staff, to Private Duty to Administration and, when she retired, she was Assistant Administrator of the Presbyterian Home for the Aged in Belvidere, NJ.
In 1940, Shirley married Frederick Robert (Bob) Dold, of Easton, PA. The couple were married 57 years until his death in 1997. They had one child, Sheryl, who survives them. Shirley is also survived by her step-grandson, Joseph R. Colonna of Atlanta, GA.
Shirley and Bob lived in Belvidere, NJ until retirement when they moved to Naples, FL for the weather and the golf.
Shirley enjoyed golf and bocce, reading and crossword puzzles, world travel and dining out with her friends. Her golf balls flew straight. Her wit was wicked and her family and friends will miss her tremendously.
There will be no memorial service at her request.
