Dorothy Egbert Bartsch

Marco Island, FL

Dorothy (Dottie) Egbert Bartsch, at the age of 90 passed away on Tuesday, December 4th, 2012. Formally from Cleveland, OH, Dottie and her late husband Edwin Bartsch made Marco Island their permanent home in 2001.

Dottie was raised in Greenville, PA. She attended Thiel College and graduated from Youngstown College in Youngstown, OH. She married her high school sweetheart in 1943. While Ed served in the Pacific Theatre, Dottie worked for the U.S. Government repatriating foreign soldiers.

Dottie and Ed began their married life after the war in Pittsburgh, PA. It was there that Dottie would find her life-long passion, service. Her heart for servant leadership never found any task too menial or any responsibility too daunting. Dottie and Ed spent decades of their married life in Cleveland where they were active in many organizations. Once they became official Floridians, Dottie became very dedicated to serving with much joy and enthusiasm at the First Presbyterian Church of Naples. She was a deacon for many years, into her late 80s, as well as co-chairing with Ed the holiday decorating committee.

Dottie is survived by her daughters, Carol Dill (Carl) of Naples, FL and Sue Beasley (Larry) of Alamo, CA. She was dearly loved by her four grandchildren and cherished being the great grandmother to seven children.

A memorial service celebrating Dottie's life will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made in Dottie's remembrance to First Presbyterian Church of Naples, 2560 6th Street South, Naples, FL 34102 and AVOW Hospice Inc., 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
