Winfield Newton Burdick Jr. ('Newton') passed away on Thursday March 19, 2015. Newton was born in South Orange, NJ and loved by his parents, Winfield Newton and Madeline Todd Burdick.
Newton graduated from Phillips Academy in 1935 followed by Yale University in 1939. After serving as a commander in the Navy during WWII, Newton spent his career in publishing. Newton was 98, just a few weeks shy of his 99th birthday.
Newton will be dearly missed by all his friends, his children Tony and Judy, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Newt Burdick was president of Pioneer Press, an Illinois newspaper publisher, in the 1960s. He was involved in the sale of its suburban weeklies, based in Oak Park and Highland Park, and its St. Charles printing plant, to Time Incorporated.
