Riley, Carol Ann (Moff)  
Carol Ann (Moff) Riley former longtime resident of Ayer AYER -- Carol Ann (Moff) Riley, 81, a former longtime resident of Ayer, died peacefully after a recent illness on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at her home in Germantown , Maryland surrounded by her family and close friends. Carol was born in Boston, MA on July 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Ruth O. (Blanchard) Moff. Upon graduating from Wakefield High School in 1952, Carol moved to Ayer to live with her Grandmother. It was there she met John A. Riley when he needed assistance to call home and Carol happened to be the operator he reached. They were married in Wakefield on June 19, 1954. After being stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Camp Drum, New York, they were finally stationed at Fort Devens where they settled and raised their family. It was in Ayer Carol also met her lifelong friend Catherine "Kay" (Murphy) Franzek of Groton, MA, when as teenagers they began their careers at the phone company, a career which lasted over 40 years, before Carol retired in 1999. In her retirement, Carol was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of traveling outside the United States, Italy being her favorite. She was a lover of all types music, especially operas, musicals, and The Boston Pops. She loved the ocean, spending much of her youth with her siblings at Lynn Beach, stopping at Mr. Porters garage on the way for homemade donuts. She was an avid Red Sox Fan. Nobody loved Johnny Pesky more than her. She loved her city of Boston, her home being filled with books and pictures of everything from the Swan boats to Filene's basement to Fenway Park. She named two of her dogs Boston and Fenway. Carol is survived by two sons and daughter-in laws; Patrick & Jackie (Donell) Riley of Germantown, Maryland, Matthew & Patti (Swanfeldt) Riley of Winter Garden, Florida; four daughters; Marguerite A. "Ri" Riley of Lowell, Eileen M. Riley of Dorchester, Bridget M. Riley of East Boston, and Mary Kate Riley & Chris Ingersoll of Salem; five granddaughters Kristen A., Bridget M., and Shannon M. of Germantown Maryland, Jennifer L. of Cromwell Indiana, and Grace M. of Winter Garden, Florida; seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Brianna, Isaac, Marcus, Dafney, Zechary, and Emmily; her sister Patricia G. Zoda of Wakefield MA; her sister-in-law Carol A. Moff of The Villages, Florida; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons John A. Riley and Daniel T. Riley., her siblings Richard B. Moff, Craig D. Moff, and Claire R. Flannigan, and her former husband John A. Riley. RILEY -- Family and friends are invited to celebrate a funeral Mass at 10 am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Mary's Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer. There will be no calling hours. Verrecchia, Anne C.  
Anne C. Verrecchia, 95 AYER -- Anne C. Verrecchia, age 95, passed away peacefully at Apple Valley Center, Ayer on January 31, 2016. Anne was the daughter of the late Antonio and Vincenza (Letizio) Verrecchia of Lawrence, MA. She was the longest surviving of her siblings, Viola DeVito, Frank, Albert, and Michael Verrecchia. Anne was born in Lawrence, MA and lived her earlier years on Avon St., Lawrence and later she was a long time resident of Morgan Drive, Haverhill where she was condominium treasurer for many years until the age of 87. A graduate of Lawrence High School and the Charles School in Cambridge, MA, Anne was office manager for Prudential Insurance Company in Lawrence and in Malden, MA where she worked for 40 years. Anne was a loving and caring aunt, dedicated to her family. She was a communicant of St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Methuen, MA. She is survived by her niece, Jean Devito Cunningham and her husband Peter Cunningham of Groton, their children Jenny and Laura Cunningham, and her nephews James, Stephen, and Michael Verrecchia, and nieces, Ann Loven, Betty Wallace, Judy Lacasse, Janet Giaimo, their spouses and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. VERRECCHIA -- of Ayer, Anne C. Verrecchia, age 95, passed away peacefully at Apple Valley Center, Ayer on January 31, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday February 5, 2016 at the Badger Funeral Home 45 School St., Groton, MA. Friends and relatives will be received by the family 10AM until time of Service.
