Longtime resident of Groton; 85

GROTON -- Helen M. (Glod) Kudzma, 85, a resident of Blossom Lane, Groton for 45 years, died Monday, April 15, 2013.

Her husband, Stanley C. Kudzma, died in May 2005.

She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley C. and Jacqueline Kudzma of Leominster; her daughter, Martha M. Kudzma of Somerville; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Glod of Quincy, Ann Glod, Catherine Kudzma and Sue Devlin, all of Rhode Island. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kudzma was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, July 16, 1927, a daughter of Vincent and Frances (Walas) Glod and was a graduate of St. Joseph's School in Central Falls.

She was the sister of the late Alexander Glod, Edward Glod, Stanley Glod, all of Rhode Island, and William Glod of Lewiston, NY.

For several years, Mrs. Kudzma worked as a civilian employee in the transportation department at Fort Devens. Previously, she had worked at Victory Supermarket in Ayer and Baybank Harvard Trust in Groton.

She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Groton and had been a member of its Ladies Guild. She volunteered at Country Day School of the Holy Union in Groton.

Stanley and Martha would like to thank the nurses and aides of South 2 and the entire staff of Apple Valley Center, for the care that was given to our mother for the past few years.

KUDZMA -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Monday, April 22nd at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. James Church, St. James Avenue, West Groton. Burial will be in Groton Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2-5 p.m., Sunday, April 21st and Monday from 9:00 -- 9:30 AM at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte. 2A) Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
