TOWNSEND -- Joyce C. (Liebenow) Gyles, 84, of Lunenburg Rd., died Friday, May 9, 2014, at Leominster Hospital, following a brief illness.

Her beloved husband, Merrill C. Gyles Sr., passed away in March of 1994.

Mrs. Gyles was born February 26, 1930 in Cummington, MA, a daughter of the late Roscoe W. and Evelyn Liebenow Gould and relocated to Nashua, NH for much of her life before settling in Townsend over 45 years ago.

For many years Mrs. Gyles was employed at Roland's Variety in Nashua and later at Nielson Molding in Townsend until her retirement. She was an avid gardener and a lover of crafts, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving and caring Mother who cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by three sons, Merrill C. Jr., and his wife Nancy J. Gyles, Bruce W. and his Wife Erin O'Conner-Gyles, Garth L. and his wife Megan E. Gyles, eight grandchildren, Ethan C. and his wife Pamela B.P. Gyles, Geoffrey T. Gyles, Melissa L. Scherer and her husband Michael, Meghan E. Peck and her husband Corey, Kendyl K. Buote, Caitlin E. Gyles, Michael C., and Amanda J. Berthiaume, and two great- grandchildren, Rachel and Harrison Scherer.

Joyce leaves two brothers, Roscoe W. Liebenow and Frank L. Liebenow and his wife Lucretia; two sisters, Janet M. Filpi and Rita R. Bancroft and her husband Merrill Bancroft, and many nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law that were lifelong friends; Margret Tule and Shirley Gyles.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Gyles is predeceased by a brother Charles C. Liebenow and a sister, Beatrice A. Roy.

GYLES -- Funeral Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Rte. 119, Townsend Center, is assisting the family.
