of Townsend, MA

TOWNSEND, MA -- Gail J. (Martinson) Bessette passed on August 10, 2014 after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Gail left her two children, Luke and Samantha, her mother Peggy and her brother Karl. She had been married for 20 years to her husband, Leo Bessette, before his passing two years ago.

Gail will always be remembered as a gentle, peaceful person who loved her children, animals, and the great outdoors. She loved walking her dogs, kayaking, snowshoeing, and spending weekends at their camp in Vermont. Dearly loved by her family and friends, she would always be ready to spend time talking, hiking, or visiting flea markets. She would take any opportunity to be outside, surrounded by nature. She was a loving a dedicated mother to her children.

Gail was a 1975 graduate of the Nashoba Valley Technical High School, with a certificate in Graphic Design. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and music. She married Leo Bessette in 1992, and lived in their home in Townsend, MA until her passing.

BESSETTE -- A memorial and celebration of Gail's life will be held at 10:00am Saturday August 16 at the Holiday Inn Boxborough, 242 Adams Place, Boxborough, MA. The family has requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Casco, Maine location of the Camp Sunshine organization, 35 Acadia Rd., Casco, ME 04015. www.campsunshine.org.
