John Adam Thomas Solovei
lifelong Lunenburg resident, WWII Vet
LUNENBURG -- John Adam Thomas Solovei, of Lunenburg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
He was born in Lunenburg April 27, 1927, son of the late Adam and Elizabeth (Maksimowith) Solovei, and was the husband of the late Gertrude A. (Maki) Solovei, who died in 2000.
He was a lifelong resident of Lunenburg where he attended the schools, and was a graduate of Lunenburg High School, Class of 1945.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, as well being a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary from1949-1953.
He and his late wife owned and operated Dippers CB Radio Sales in Lunenburg for many years, as well as Greendale Farm in Lunenburg. He had also been employed at the former Fort Devens in the Dispatch Department.
Mr. Solovei was a past member of the Finnish Congregational Church in Fitchburg, Caleb Butler Lodge AF & AM in Ayer, Aurora Lodge AF & AM of Fitchburg and the American Legion Post in Lunenburg.
He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending many hours with them fishing.
He is survived by his sons, John R. Solovei of Deep Rivers, CT, David A. Solovei of Searsport, Maine, and Donald P. Solovei of Lunenburg; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
SOLOVEI -- Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday February 2, 2013 at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113), Pepperell. Burial will be in North Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Nashoba Nursing and Hospice, 2 Shaker Rd., Suite D225, Shirley, MA 01464.
