Milton Leroy Palmer April 28, 1933 -- June 25, 2013 -- DONNA, Texas -- Milton Leroy Palmer, passed away in Edinburg, Texas, on June 25, 2013, after a long illness. He was born in Pepperell, Massachusetts on April 28, 1933 to Theodore and Lillian Palmer. He served in the United States Air Force at Altus, Oklahoma from 1953-1957. After his military service, he worked at the family service station in Pepperell, MA. He was a volunteer fireman for 39 years. He worked in the maintenance department at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds in Fryeburg, Maine during the summer for 20 years. He retired in 1993 and after retirement, he and his wife, Dottie, spent their winters traveling in the south from Florida to Texas. In 2009, they made their permanent home in Donna, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Dottie, five children, Deborah Brount, Janice Clark, Dwight, George, and Ronald Palmer: four stepdaughters, Susan Williams, Patricia Barnes, Karen Cain, and Charlotte Lavoie; 14 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Palmer, and a sister, Phyllis Symonds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lillian. Milt was a longtime member of the Prescott Grange. Milt was a man that understood the importance of hard work, community, and the love of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the
and the National Parkinson's Foundation. Services were held in Donna, Texas on Friday, June 28th with possible services at a later time in Pepperell, MA.
