WEST GROTON, MA -- Jane I. Chalmers, 79, died Sunday Dec. 16, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH. She was born in the Groton home of her parents, the late Martha (Dyer) Chalmers and John Chalmers January 14, 1933. Jane attended local schools and graduated with the 1951 class from Groton High School. She worked at Conductor Lab, Groton, MA, Ace Auto Supply, Pepperell, MA and retired from the Town of Groton Assessors Office on November 2, 2002. Jane continued working at the Groton election poles and town meetings.

Jane was an active member of the Christian Union Church in West Groton. Jane held many positions as the church assistant church treasure, trust fund treasure, treasurer of the ladies aid society, and church clerk. In the past Jane was the junior choir director and on the music committee. Being a member of the church's ladies aid, she tirelessly volunteered at the craft fairs, pie sales and at the famous church suppers. Jane loved West Groton and truly made it her home. Clover Farm, Carrol Wheeler Memorial Park, Squanacook Engine and Hose Company's annual muster are just some of the area's you would see Aunt Jane at. She will be missed by her many, many friends, young and old.

She is survived by her brother Richard E. Chalmers Sr. and his wife Carol of West Groton, MA. She is also survived by her nephews Richard (Dickie) Chalmers Jr. and his wife Gail of Nashua, NH, David Chalmers and his wife Cheryl of Wells, Vermont, nieces Lisa Donaldson of Greenville, NH, Martha Chalmers of West Groton, and Martha Sue Chalmers and many cousins and great-nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brother Ralph (Buckshot) Chalmers.

CHALMERS -- of West Groton December 16, 2012 Jane I. Chalmers. Visiting Hrs. Wednesday, December 19, 4-7pm at the Christian Union Church, 37 West Main Street, West Groton. Funeral Services 10:00am Thursday, at the church with burial to follow at the Groton Cemetery. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Jane's name to the Christian Union Church, PO Box 223, West Groton, MA.
