TOWNSEND -- Stanley E. Vladyka, 69, of Townsend died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester.
Mr. Vladyka was born in Brockton, Massachusetts August 27, 1943, a son of Agnes (Hill) Vladyka and the late Edward Vladyka and resided in Franklin and Winchester before moving to Townsend 29 years ago.
Besides his mother of Walpole, Massachusetts, he is survived by a sister, Joy Vladyka of Franklin, Massachusetts, his wife, Linda Michele (Lawlor) Cannon; a son, Stanley Vladyka of North Fryeburg Maine; five daughters, Brenda Vladyka of Brownfield, Maine, Pamela Hayes of Newmarket, New Hampshire, Jessica Jabar of North Fryeburg, Maine and Diane Farrington of Fryeburg, Maine, Kimberly Kayyal of Palm Bay, Florida; two stepdaughters, Bridget Cooper of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Sherene Raisbeck of Acton, Massachusetts; He also leaves 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
During the Vietnam era, Mr. Vladyka served his country in the United States Army.
Following his discharge from the armed forces, Mr. Vladyka began a lengthy career as an architectural engineering draftsman working many years for the Engineers Design Group in Cambridge. He retired in 2004.
He served on several town committees including the Memorial Hall Restoration/Renovation Steering Committee:1998-1999, Memorial Hall Restoration /Renovation Building Committee:1998-2000; Conservation Commission:2000-2006 and Planning Board: 2001-2009, serving as chairman 2007, 2008 and 2009.
VLADYKA -- A funeral service will be held 10am Tuesday, February 26th at the T. J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte 119) Townsend Center. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
Burial will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the Chapel in Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton.
A visitation period will be Tuesday from 9 AM until the time of the service.
