HARVARD -- Daniel J. Poitras, 66, of Nova Scotia, Canada, formerly of Harvard, Ayer, Townsend and Wilton, NH, died unexpectedly, Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Aberdeen Regional Hospital, Pictou, NS Canada.
Mr. Poitras was born in Lowell, February 21, 1946, a son of the late Alfred W. and Helen J. (Horgan) Poitras and grew up in Harvard. He resided in Littleton, Ayer, Townsend and Wilton, NH before moving to Nova Scotia four years ago.
He leavs his wife of 11 years, Judith A. (Warner) Poitras; a daughter, Jessica Poitras of Townsend; two brothers, William R. Poitras of Shirley, Stephen T. Poitras of Keene, NH; a sister, Joanne Warwick of Ayer and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Edward A. Poitras of Littleton.
Mr. Poitras served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a correction officer for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections before retiring in 2010.
He was an accomplished carpenter and very much enjoyed working on and restoring Model A Fords. Most recently he purchased an eighty acre farm in Nova Scotia and had been enjoying working and living there.
POITRAS -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, April 9th at St. Theresa's Church, 15 Still River Road, Route 110, Harvard.
Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard.
