Kathleen M. Cleary of Pepperell; 51 -- PEPPERELL -- Kathleen M. Cleary, 51, of Pepperell, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center. She was the beloved daughter of Betty H. (Pillsbury) Cleary and the late Joseph I. Cleary. Kathy was born on July 11, 1961, in Nashua, NH. She attended school in Groton, graduating first from Country Day School and later from Lawrence Academy. She went on to work for her father as an administrative assistant at Townsend Ford. Kathy was very active; she loved playing sports, she could "waterski like hell" (as her father used to say), and she loved nothing more than being at the lake, cruising around in the boat, causing trouble and having a good time. In 1984, a tragic accident left Kathy a quadriplegic. She did not let her disability stop her. After the accident Kathy worked hard to get back her life and her sense of independence. Although being a quad changed the course of Kathy's life, one thing it did not affect was her deep passion for living. Kathy had an incredible spirit -- she always wanted to keep going, to keep trying. She enjoyed many things including her family and friends, her home, working on her computer, watching sports, her van, and listening to music. Kathy is survived by her mother, Betty; her sister, Maureen; her brothers, Mike and Tom; sister-in-law, Andi; and her nieces and nephew, Kristin and Abby Cartee, Joe and Kelly Cleary, and Madison Cleary; as well as her aunt, Mary J. Pillsbury, and her best friend and caretaker, Yvonne Quinn. Her father, Joseph, died in February. She will be remembered by all of us in the following quotation: "You have accepted challenges others have not, you have persevered where others have not; your courage has been a true inspiration to all of us."
