Passed away peacefully in Ottawa, surrounded by her loving family, on Oct. 12. Born to Mary Agnes and John in Aberdeen, Scotland, she immigrated to Canada with her family in 1929, settling in the Pointe St-Charles district of Montreal. At the outbreak of war, Molly joined the RCAF and was stationed at CFB St-Hubert where she met her future husband, Flight Lt Charles (Stewart) Buchanan, who would go on to become a commercial pilot with TCA (now Air Canada). He died in an air accident near CFB Bagotville in 1952, leaving Molly a widow with three young daughters at age 31. She supported them by working at the Dorval Airport Credit Union, and was a popular figure at the airport until her retirement in 1981. Loving mother to Linda, Lana and Lynn-Joy; sister to Alan and Margaret (Stones); Nanny to Kim (Patrick), Krista (Anthony), Sean (Jessie) and Shannon (Colin); great-grandmother (Nanny Tick-Tock) to Jonathan-Drew (JD), Willem, Callum and Nicholas. loving sister-in-law to Ken Stones and to the late Flora Riddell and auntie to many nieces and nephews. She left an indelible mark on our lives with her love, strength and fortitude and will be sadly missed by all who knew her...but never forgotten. A private family funeral will be held Oct. 18 at the National Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire and a celebration of her life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and/or Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.
