Sister Georgina (Mary Margaret) Ashwell

Sister Georgina Ashwell (Margaret Mary) of the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London died peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, London. She was in her 97th year and her 74th year of religious life. Sister is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as well as the members of her religious community. Predeceased by her parents George Ashwell and Margaret Barry, formerly of Strathroy; brothers Barry, Allan, John, Charles; sisters Helen, Phyllis and Aileen.Sister spent from 1943 until 1981 as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospitals in Chatham, Sarnia, London and Killam, Alberta. She served as hospital administrator, director and instructor of nursing schools, medical supervisor, and director of volunteer services. Following her retirement, she ministered in pastoral care at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sarnia and was health unit nurse at Mount St. Joseph, London. Sister was a gentle, caring soul who loved everyone. She carried large responsibilities with simplicity and grace. All services will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitation from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011. Evening prayers at 4:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, December 6, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
