With grace and dignity, our wife, mother and bubbie passed away in Toronto, on Friday, February 22, 2013, the Sabbath having just commenced, Bronia (Sztern) Baum, a courageous, intelligent woman, lived a long, happy life marked initially with great difficulty. She was born in Lublin, Poland on the 30th day of November, 1921 into a large family with numerous siblings which, mostly perished in the Shoah. She, with her sweetheart Joseph (Yoska) to whom she alway referred with unbridled declarations of true love as "De Matzeile" (Special, Unique Treasure) were saved by constant travels during those years into the Eastern parts of Russia and Asia and ultimately, after enduring many hardships were able to emigrate, shortly following the War to Canada, a land she truly loved. Bronia and Joseph had many dear, good friends but, ultimately, her pride and love was first and foremost in her family, whom she cherished without reserve. She and Joseph, her grieving husband of 71 years, started as, remained and will always be sweethearts; a love story for the ages. Grieving as well are her sons and daughters-in-law; Bernie (Sahri), Harry (Lonia) and Allan (Nancy) and grandchildren Rebecca (Doron), Matthew (Natalie), Tamara (James), Jason (Angus), Michael, David, Brandon, Geoffrey and Samara. My wife, our mother and bubbie, we love you and will always carry you with us in our hearts forever. A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 24 at Steeles Memorial Chapel.
