LANE, Helen Elizabeth ("Liz")
Liz passed away on December 13, 2012 at Victoria, BC at the age of 93. She was born on November 14, 1919 in England and worked for the Royal College of Engineers and MI5 during WWII. In 1945 she married and moved to Canada, and after raising her family, she worked as an interior designer in Toronto. Her accomplishments were many, but the one that she was most proud of was earning her pilot's license at age 50. She flew extensively around North America until she gave up her pilot's license at age 86. At age 70 she earned a BA from the University of Waterloo. She was an active member of many organizations, including the Unitarian Service Committee, Liberal Party of Canada, Victoria Flying Club and United Flying Octanagarians, the "99's" and the American Yankee Assoc. Liz was also an extensive world traveler. She is survived by her son Bruce, daughter Susan, and grandson Kevin. Liz had many friends that enriched her life. In her own words, "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves". No service at Liz's request. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
