It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margit Schonberger on Monday, February 11, 2013. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her children: Rachel and George Mason; and Rabbi Joseph and Susan Schonberger. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Mason, Lori and Jack Hurtig, Eliana Kayla and Samuel Oren Schonberger. She was the proud great-grandmother of Bailey Leah Hurtig and Noah David Mason. She will also be greatly missed by her sister Anna Farkas, and sister and brother-in-law Clara and Joe Bisztric. Mrs. Schonberger was predeceased by her loving husband, Dezso Moshe Schonberger, to whom she was married for 66 years. She missed him terribly. She was predeceased by her loving grandson David Zev Schonberger, brother-in- law Carl Stewart, sister and-brother-in-law Magda and Leslie Trattner, brother-in-law Bernard Farkas, sister Boske Hidvegi, parents Cecilia and Joseph Kelemen. Mrs. Schonberger was a Holocaust survivor who dedicated her life to the happiness of her family. She was a talented home-maker, cook, baker, and seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, and even made a dozen beautiful kippot for the entire wedding party when her first grandchild got married. She made a special point of remembering and baking the favourites of each of her loved ones when they came for a visit. She was a giving and kind person who had a profound love for her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. There was never a shortage of food, cake, presents, hugs or kisses in her home. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Service to be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 2 P.M. with interment to follow at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Pride of Israel Section. Shiva will be observed at AMICA of Thornhill, 546 Steeles Ave. West Donations in her memory can be made to Beit HaLochem of Canada, 1600 Steeles Ave. West, Concord Ontario Canada L4K 4M2.
