DOCHERTY, George H. C.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland and in 1969 immigrated to Canada. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 70 years of age. Beloved husband of Karen (nee Noble) for 43 years. Devoted father of Edward and his wife Lee-Anne and Lisa and her husband Ryan Moran. Loving Grandpa of George (Brennan) and Ciaran. Dear brother of Tony and Bernadette (Ronnie Simpson). George will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Jim Noble (Laura), his nephews Diarmid, Fearghas, Chris and niece Hilary, his extended family and many friends. George was the executive Vice President of Guild Electric, where he worked proudly for 45 years. George sat on the board of directors of the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario, and in 2010 received the Douglas J.B Wright Award for his dedication and commitment to the industry. He was also a Nidan in Chito Ryu Karate Do and secretary of The Canadian Chito Ryu Karate Do Association for over 20 years. "The winds will blow and the sun will shine from generation to generation through the trees of the garden but the day and the hour will surely come to take the highest apple from the knowledge tree"- An Ubhal as Àirde (The Highest Apple). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY FAMILY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, (91 Ribblesdale Drive, Whitby) on Saturday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Arthritis Society or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. George walked into my office 32 years ago and he has been a colleague, mentor and friend ever since. George was a man of many strengthsintegrity, intellect, insight and intuition.
