Kathi J. Wilson, 52, of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at her residence in Lafayette after a lengthy illness. Formerly of Brook, she was born Oct. 28, 1960, in Lafayette and graduated from South Newton High School in 1979. She graduated from Ball State in 1983, an later received her Masters degree from Purdue University. On Sept. 3, 1983, she wed Michael D. Wilson in Brook, and he survives.
Kathi was the elementary school counselor at South Newton Elementary for 12 years. She was a member of the Faith Church and Indiana School Counselor's Association. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and landscaping. her grandkids and her kids at school.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Valeri N. Wilson (companion John Marinakis) of Washington, Ill., and Kristi B. Wilson of Jersey City, N.J.; her parents, Tom and Kay Anderson of Brook and one sister, Kim (Steve) Wilson also of Brook; and two grandchildren, Kingston K. and Madelyn N. Marinakis.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Ardis Fenwick, and paternal grandfather Leonard Anderson.
Visitation is Sunday, Feb. 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Brook United Methodist Church. Funeral services are Monday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with Revs. John Huff and Steve Biars officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery n Brook. Per Kathi's request, mourners are asked to wear bright colors. No black. Memorials may be made to the Kathi Wilson fund.
