LaVerne Keith Merriman Sr. passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana, Ill. He was born in Morocco on July 22, 1925, to the late Earnest Merriman and Dollie White Merriman.
He served in World War II in the Navy. He loved old tractors and trains.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Linda (Jim) Bingham of Newark, Ill., LaVerne (Debie) Merriman of Joliet, Ill., Connie (Rick) Potts and Ernest (Shonda) Merriman both of Morocco, and Jim (Amanda) Merriman of Lake Village; and companion Edwina Collins of Morocco.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held March 30, at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
