Nella Cothran

1921 - 2013

Nella Cothran, 91, of Brook, formerly of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at 12:25 a.m. at the George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. She was born July 18, 1921, in Golden Pond, Ky., to the late Alvin and Tempie Lee Dixon Scott. On May 21, 1938, she married Herman Alton Cothran in Cadiz, Ky. He preceded her in death in May 1986 in LaPorte.
Mrs. Cothran was a homemaker and a volunteer at LaPorte Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Wm. Glenn (Vivian) Cothran of Brook, and Dolton Ray (Ruth) Cothran of Beaver Island, Minn.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 9-10 a.m. at the Gerts Funeral Home in Brook. Funeral services followed at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jack Cox officiating. Internment took place at the Chapel Lawn Memorial cemetery in Schererville, Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to the Dixon Cemetery Fund in Cadiz, Ky. Gerts Funeral Home of Brook was in charge of arrangements.
