Ralph A. Hutchinson, 76 of Kentland
He was born at home near Sheldon, Illinois, on September 24, 1932. He passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 11:55 p.m. with family present at the Indianapolis home of his son Charles.
He was the son of Ethel Mae Smith Hutchinson and Richard B. Hutchinson. He married Patricia (Pat) Joanne Sheldon in Remington on February 9, 1958, and she survives.
He graduated from A.J. Kent High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army in France from 1953 to 1955. From 1958 to 1967 he worked for Kentland Elevator. From 1967 to 2001 he worked for People's Ready Mix driving a cement truck. He also farmed part-time for many years and for all but 11 years of his life lived on the farm where he was born.
He was a member of the Raub United Methodist Church, Brook American Legion, and former 25-year member of Knights of Pythias.
He had two sons, Stephen D. Hutchinson (fiancée Heather White) of Crystal River, Florida, and Charles A. Hutchinson of Indianapolis.
Also surviving are six grandchildren: Heather Lynn Osborne (husband Dan); Tyanne, James, Joshua, and Stephanie Hutchinson; and Kira White; two great-grandchildren: Josephine and Cloe Osborne; all of Crystal River, Florida. One brother, Robert Hutchinson (wife Patty) of Kentland; one sister, Mona Kime (husband John), of Wabash; one brother-in-law, Jim Sheldon (wife Patty Sue) of Greencastle; two sisters-in-law, Alice Sheldon of Remington and Marge Hutchinson of Muncie. In addition, he is survived by  one aunt, Kate DeWees of Rensselaer. He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd; two half-brothers, Charles R. and Bernard; and one nephew, Bernie.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. (CDT) at the McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland.  Interment Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland, Memorials to Raub United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2009  5-8PM (CDT) at the McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland.  www.stitzfuneralhome.com
