Ralph W. Dewing, 85, of Kentland, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital of Watseka, Illinois.

He was born March 16, 1927 in Kentland to the late Thomas William and Ethel Rose (Milljour) Dewing. He attended AJ Kent High School.
His marriage was to Ruby Ruth Leape on March 25, 1951, in Kentland. She survives.
Ralph served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a member of Covenant Federated Church of Kentland, American Legion Post # 23 and a former member of the Knights of Pythias in Kentland.
Ralph worked as a self-employed farmer all his life. He loved working outdoors, farming and gardening.
Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Groover (husband: Joe) of Veedersburg; a son, Dennis Dewing of Kentland; a sister, Esther Vougland of Kentland; and a brother, Donald Dewing (wife: Verna) also of Kentland.
Also surviving are three granddaughters, Amanda Bard (husband: Duane) of Iroquois, Illinois, Ashley McDonald (husband: Ross) of Fishers and Gretchen Groover of Brownsburg; two grandsons, Nicholas Groover (wife: Cory) of Kentland and Deric Dewing of Elkhart; three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Julia Turnpaugh; and a brother, Walter Dewing Sr.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. (CDT) until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland with Rev. Wayne Meyer officiating. Interment to follow at Sheldon Cemetery of Sheldon, Illinois.
