Kathleen Chetley Obituary

Kathleen Anne Chetley CARLSBAD -- Kathleen Anne Chetley passed away May 7, 2012 at her home in Carlsbad. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in February, 1938, the first of three daughters to James and Florence Martin. Katy grew up in Bremerton, Washington and graduated from Bremerton High School. Later, she lived in Spokane and Seattle where she married her husband, Warren in 1965. In 1972, Warren and Katy settled in Carlsbad where she lived the rest of her life. She worked as an office manager at Tamarack Beach Resort in the 1980s and 90s, where she loved to look out the office windows over the beach below and see the dolphins and porpoises. She continued to work for Wavecrest Properties at their Encinitas office. Katy, along with Warren, made many contributions to the early days of youth sports in Carlsbad; particularly Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. She loved to cook and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Katy is survived by her husband, Warren Chetley; sons, Christopher (Gabriella) of Carlsbad, and Alexander (Julianne) of Lodi, Calif.; sisters, Janice Ruef of Rockaway Beach, Oregon, and Virginia Case of Queen Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Lauren; and grandson, Liam of Lodi. Katy's ashes will be interred at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

Dear Warren, Chris Alex and Families,
It has been a very long time since I have
seen Katie. I had the privilege to work
with Katie and Warren when my two nephews were in pop warner. This was in the early 80's.
I can remember so many good times we shared on the valley field with Katie and Warren and how hard they both worked to help the youth of Carlsbad. Those were wonderful times.
I hope all of your precious memories stay in your hearts and bring you comfort.
Take good care of each other.

Linda Merling (Di Martino), Auntie of
Jim and Greg Beach.

Dear Warren, Chris and Alex and families,
John and I send our deepest condolences at the loss of Katy, cherished wife, mother and grandmother.
We both reflected on the years of wonderful memories and times spent together.
Just the past Christmas Katy sent us some pictures of our youth...Days spent at Little league fields, pop warner fields, and events.
She was so proud of you boys, and of course proud grandmother.
Know that John and I hold you in our hearts and memories, and will always think fondly of the Chetley family. Rest in peace Katy.
Sincerely
John and Dianna Beach
