David Feyk Obituary

David Edward Feyk, 67 OCEANSIDE / FALLBROOK -- David Edward Feyk of Oceanside died Friday, May 14, 2010. Dave was born in Lewistown, Mont., on August 2, 1942. He attended St. Leo's school and won a scholarship in sports to Carroll College in Helena, Mont., where he earned a double BA in English and History. Later he received a Master's in Communications from Cal State Fullerton. Dave chose to enter teaching and coaching and landed a job in Chowchilla, Calif. where he taught English and coached baseball and football. He married his Carroll College sweetheart, Kathy Yahna. They moved to Huntington Beach where they started their family and Dave taught English and coached golf at Fountain Valley High for 30 years. They also lived in Fallbrook for a number of years. Later, they moved to their current home in Oceanside on the El Camino Country Club golf course where Dave proudly served as chairman of the board. Dave's passions were family, golf, painting and writing. He is a published writer and cartoonist, and he has sold several paintings: davidfeyk.com. Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy; his mother, brother, three sisters, three children, and seven grandchildren. He will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather ("Papa") and friend. We are richer because of his love and guidance. A Mass will be held Friday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad. A celebration of life ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m. at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside. Donations can be made in Dave's name to the Warrior Foundation (warriorfoundation.com). Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

June 4, 2010

Dear Kathy,
I just read about Dave in the Carroll Quicknotes. I am so sorry. I remember both of you from my days at Carroll. He was always such a nice guy. I think you lived 2 doors down from me in Guad. Hall. You and your family will be remembered in our prayers. God bless you.
Love,
Annette (O'Halloran) Skabronski

I was sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I played ball with him at Carroll and, earlier, enjoyed the company of his family in Lewistown. He was a good and decent man and I respected him very much. I am sorry for your troubles.

Dear Family,
Please accept my condolences and prayers. Dave and I grew up a block apart in Lewistown, played baseball and basketball together for hours and hours. I never could hit his fastball or block his jump shot. Rest in peace Dave.
