Mable Bulen Obituary

Mable Jean Rudd Bulen, 99 MURRIETA -- Mable Jean Rudd Bulen of Hobart, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Hobart. She was born February 24, 1912, in Hobart to Yancy Clarence and Elizabeth (Standerfer) Rudd. She graduated from Hobart High School, received her two-year certificate from Southwestern College in 1930 and started teaching school at Prospect 40. She taught 27 years in Oklahoma, including 19 years in Hobart. Mable finished her Master's Degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1952. She moved to California in 1960 and went back to Hobart in 2003. Mable married Erwin D. Bulen on June 10, 1965 in Winter Haven, Calif., and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2003. She was a member of the Murrieta Baptist Church in Murrieta, Calif. Survivors include five step-children, Mary Lou Ritch, Vista, Calif., Betty Sue Soito, Chico, Calif., Bobby Saltus, Lade Lake, Fla., and David Bulen, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. There are many nieces and nephews, the local nieces are Wanda Hall and Patsy Goetz, and a nephew, James Rudd, all of Hobart, Okla. Other niece and nephews are Rosemary Hargraves, Glendale, Ariz., Dr. William Rudd Vaughan, Houston, Texas, Robert Rudd of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of great, and great-great, and great- great-great nieces and nephews. She was the last of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin; one step son, Daniel Bulen; five brothers, Clifton, Lloyd, Thomas, Sherman and James; and six sisters, Mary Johnnie, Janie, Nannie Lee, Beulah and Lela. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Hobart, Okla. Burial followed in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart.
