Elizabeth H. Ball 89, of Tunkhannock, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Golden Living Personal Care Center in Tunkhannock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Joseph William Ball.
She was born Tunkhannock on Oct. 1, 1923, daughter of the late George and Nettie Plank Hamblin. Betty was a retired Registered Nurse graduating from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and served as site director for URS in Tunkhannock prior to her retirement.
Betty had the good fortune to have had the opportunity to travel throughout the country and the world with her husband while he served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. Their travels continued for many years after he retired. She was an avid quilter, Bowler and enjoyed painting with water colors and working in her gardens. Most of all Betty was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and an adoring aunt.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Conley and Ruth Babcock. Surviving are sons, Patrick Joseph Ball and wife Linda of Boise, Idaho, William David Ball and wife Cindy of Tunkhannock, daughter Alice Samantha Ball of Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Joe Ball, Sarah Egan, Maggie Ball and Alex Ball; great grandchildren, Milo Ball and Zoe Egan.
A memorial service was held on Nov. 2 from the Sheldon – Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., Tunkhannock with Rev Peter Geschwindner, Pastor of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. Interment of cremains will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

To the family of Betty Ball. I really enjoyed being with Betty in TOPS. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

We knew Betty & her husband a very long time. My husband & I bowled with them & I bowled with Betty.
They were very nice people.
