Anthony William McKennas Jr., of Tunkhannock, died Monday Nov. 12, 2012, at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Ann Crispell, and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Dec. 7.
Anthony was born January 11, 1937, in Tunkhannock, the son of the late Anthony W. and Lillian Shiffer McKennas Sr.
He lived in the Tunkhannock area his entire life and was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, Class of 1954, and retired from Readington Farms as a field representative.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, woodworking, and was an exceptional "A" class horseshoe player at the Factoryville Sportsmen's Club.
Anthony especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in sports, school, and college.
The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice and especially nurse Robin for the excellent care she provided.
Anthony is also survived by his daughter, Darlene McKennas of Harrisburg; a son Anthony James McKennas and wife Nancy of Laceyville; a grandson Anthony (A.J.) Mckennas and wife Bridgette of Montrose; two granddaughters: Christine McKennas and companion Jared Myers of Springbrook Township, and Ariel McKennas of Laceyville; and a brother, Joseph McKennas of Tunkhannock.
He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Mckennas Gruver, formerly of Meshoppen.
At Anthony's request, there will be no viewing and the funeral service will be private.
A public memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m. in the East Lemon United Methodist Church, with services by Rev. Margaret M. McCarty.
