Basil Charles Dickson(1937 - 2013)

Basil Charles Dickson, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at FairView Transitional Health Center in Grants Pass, Ore.
Basil was born Feb. 22, 1927, to Basil and Lynola (Dixon) Dickson, on Henry Holard Road in West Nicholson.
He was the youngest of three boys, including brothers Delmar and Robert. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Basil married Virginia Lattanzi on April 10, 1947, and together they had five children.
Basil was owner of Oxbow Dairy Farm on Avery Station Road, East Lemon. The family sold the farm and moved to California in 1965. Basil became employed by Knudsen-Kraft in July 1965 and retired in Visalia, CA, in February of 1990.
Basil and Virginia moved to Wilderville, Ore., in 1991 to build their retirement home. Basil enjoyed his early retirement first overseeing the building of their log home, then doing lots of fishing, eating Virginia's fantastic cooking and relaxing with their cats.
Basil is survived by Virginia, 87, his wife of 66 years of Wilderville, Ore.; daughters: Diane Martinez of Albuquerque, N.Mex., Debara Sorge of Grants Pass, Ore., and Lorraine Moore of Medford, Ore.; son, Clifford Dickson of Wilderville, Ore; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew (and their families).
Basil was preceded in death by both parents; brothers: Delmar and Robert; and youngest son, Thomas.
At the request of family, services will be private.
