Carl S. Ellis, 86, Springville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at home.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1927, in Dimock Twp., to the late Frederick S. and Harriet M. (Babcock) Ellis.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Viola M. (Decker) Ellis of Springville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Fred and Gail Ellis of California, and Jeff and Patty Ellis of New Jersey; two daughters and a son-in-law: Carla and George Endly of New Jersey, and Peggy Konrad of Lawton; three sisters: Betty Button, Vivian Hathaway, and Beulah Herman; a brother, Clayton Ellis; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Clifton Ellis.
Carl was a loving husband and father.
He was a World War II Army
veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Allstate Insurance after 25 years as an auto claims supervisor.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating; he was an excellent marksman.
Carl was also an exceptional baseball player and received an offer to play in the pros.
He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. Carl was an honest and caring person who treated everyone equally the same.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 9 pm. Interment will be at the Tyler Hill Cemetery, Dimock.
