Charles Paul Radney(1931 - 2013)

Charles Paul Radney, 81, of South Waverly, passed away Friday Mar. 15, 2013, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Chuck, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Sayre, on Aug. 6, 1931, the son of Amos and Florence Webster Radney.
He was a graduate of St. Agnes High School in Towanda, class of 1950. In January 1951, Chuck joined the U.S. Army where he served as a paratrooper during the Korean War beginning in the Second Infantry and later transferred to the 187th Airborne Combat Division. He subsequently served in Japan until the completion of his military service in January of 1954.
On Aug. 13, 1955, Chuck married Mary Carolyn McKernan and together they raised six children.
Chuck was employed by National Homes in Horseheads from 1955 to 1965 and later went to Osram Sylvania in Towanda from 1966 until his retirement in 1992.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, bowling and watching basketball and NASCAR racing. He was a member of the Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 and Towanda Elks Lodge No. 2191.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Carolyn Radney at home; sons: David (Pat) Radney of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., Stephen (Theresa) of Ulster, and Larry (Lorie); daughters: Laurie (Steve) Shanks of Athens, Monica (Charlie) Klein of Tunkhannock and Colleen Radney (Donnie Hitchcock) of Towanda; grandchildren: Summer, Chris, Tammy, Loren, Ethan, Lara, Robert, Becky, Clayton, Sarah, Christy, Kyle, and Amy; great grandchildren: Garrett, Lindsey, Brady, Shelby, Elizabeth, Olivia, Owen, Jordyn, Dakota, Dylan, Molly, Collin, Max and Aurora; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ronald Wanck of Sayre; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandsons, Eric and Ian Radney and Daniel Hadlock.
A memorial luncheon was held on Mar. 18, at the Ulster Fire Hall, Ulster.
Chuck greatly enjoyed attending the monthly breakfast held at the Ulster Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be directed to the Ulster- Sheshequin Fire Association in care of Karen Bixby, 1899 Ghent Hill Road, Ulster, PA 18850 in Charles Paul Radney's memory.
