Howard T. Miller of Tunkhannock, a guest at the Meadows Nursing Home in Dallas, died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, with his daughter Leona Miller and his faithful companion of 19 years, Hunter the beagle, at his side.
He was born in Tunkhannock on August 8, 1925, son of the late Thomas and Harriet Carpenter Miller.
He was a WW II veteran. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a carpenter.
Howard was a loving companion, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his companion Leona Pond; brothers: Byron and George Miller; sister Doris Miller; and granddaughter Linda Noble.
Surviving are daughters: Leona Miller of Clear Lake, Wisc., Jessie Avery of Nicholson, Mary Noble of Springville, Edith Wiebel of Harvey's Lake; son: Howard Miller of Inwood, W.Va.; brothers: Harry and Harold Miller, both of Tunkhannock, and Carl Miller of Reno, Nev.; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 grandchildren; and his beagle dog Hunter, his companion to the end by his side for 19 years.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock; with interment in Jackson Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.sheldonkukuchkafuneralhome.com
