James Yerkes, 55, of Nicholson, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA in Scranton.
Born Sept. 27, 1958, in Flemington, N.J., he is the son of the late Jack Yerkes and the late Mary Shimsky Mohr.
James was a 1976 graduate of the Easton Area High School and was employed as a custodian at the Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center.
He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Flyers, and the Phillies.
He was loved not only by his family, but also by his many friends. He will be greatly missed.
James is survived by a brother, Ken Yerkes and wife Donna of Nicholson; a sister, Carol Griffith and husband, Don of Bethlehem Township; five nieces: Tiffany, Kandice, Trisha, Rachel, and Vicki; three nephews, Frank, Joey, and Randy; and two great nieces.
He was predeceased by a sister, Kathi Russo.
The family received friends Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson.
Interment of cremains will be held in the Forks Cemetery located in Stockertown at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be given to the Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center, 179 College Ave, Factoryville, PA 18419.
