Michael F. Wasko, 81, of Meshoppen passed away Friday morning, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Scranton on June 19, 1931, the son of the late Victor and Helen Trznadel Wasko.
Michael attended West Scranton High School until he joined the U.S. Army
. He was of the Methodist faith attending the Eatonville United Methodist Church.
Michael married the former Ercel Shupp on June 10, 1967, and was employed as a material handler at Bendix of South Montrose.
Michael had a good sense of humor, a big smile, loved Miss Peggy's Cookies, loved choir, gardening, feeding birds, mowing lawn, going for rides, bus trips, working the church dinners, and anywhere else he could lend a helping hand.
In addition to his parents Michael is preceded in death by his brothers: Stanley and John Wasko, and Zigmond Grobowski; and sisters: Jean Tomczyk, Helen Kolakowski, Victoria Usckaviczy and Mildred Rosencrans.
In addition to his wife Ercel of 45 years, Michael is survived by a special niece and nephew, Kelly and Jim Sheridan of Tunkhannock; a sister, Mary Griffin of Scranton; and many others.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, Oct. 8, at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Rev. Betty Reilly of the Eatonville United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment with military honors took place at the Lynn Cemetery.
