Robert "Bob" J. Patterson, 77, of Nicholson, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla.
Born May 10, 1936 in Scranton, to the late Jane and David Patterson, Bob graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1954.
He joined the U.S. Naval reserves in 1953 and entered active duty upon graduation where he served as an Electronics Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
Bob married Anne L. Rynearson in 1955. They were married for 36 years. He received a degree in electronics from Temple University in 1961.
Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator in the International Union of Operating Engineers until 1984. He then went to work at Steamtown National Historic Site where his knowledge and love for trains grew.
Bob is survived by his former wife, Anne Rynearson (Patterson), three children; Robin Greenley, of Heuvelton, N.Y.; Susan Gumble, of Hop Bottom; and R. David Patterson, of Factoryville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jane and David Patterson, brother, Paul Patterson, and son, Matthew Patterson.
Calling hours will be held at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson on Saturday May 10, from 6-7:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:30.
