Shirley Peters, 80, of Shelton, Conn., passed away in her home on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.
She was born in Tunkhannock on May 14, 1933, to the late Arlene Swan Schaefer and George Schaefer, the founders of 'Schaefer's Heating and Plumbing' in 1942, which is still in operation as a family business.
Shirley was married to Edward Peters, now deceased, also previously from the Tunkhannock Area. They both graduated from Tunkhannock High School.
She also attended Keystone Junior College and worked at Schaefer's Heating and Plumbing prior to her marriage to Edward.
Extremely artistic and talented, Shirley loved to bake and cook, and she designed most of her own clothes, and loved to sew. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons: David Peters and his companion Maggie Peters of Trumbull, Conn., and Mark Peters and his wife Jennifer of Canton, Ga. She also had four grandchildren: Melissa, Mitchell, Natalie, and Sarah, and she was predeceased in February by her granddaughter Michelle Peters.
She is also survived by a brother, Donald Schaefer and his wife Mary Low of Tunkhannock; an Aunt Anne Schaefer, of Tunkhannock; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, morning, Oct. 5, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull Conn..
Interment followed at the Lawn Cemetery, in Shelton, Conn.
